2022-08-21

Native to Mexico, the Chihuahua is one of the smallest dog breeds in the world. Founded by the Chihuahua Club in 1923, it is one of the 12 most popular dog breeds in the United States.
Some people believe that this dog is native to South America, and was originally regarded as a god dog by the Incas, and later spread to the Astic people. It is also believed that the dog was a breed that came to the New World with the Spanish invaders, or was Introduced from China in the early 19th century. Others believe it developed from dogs bred by Mexicans around the 19th century.
The ideal adult dog height of Chihuahua should be between 15-23cm, and the ideal adult dog weight should be between 1-3kg. The smaller the size, the more popular it is, so the price on the market is not low.

Chihuahua character traits
When it comes to small toy dogs, the first thing that comes to mind is the Chihuahua. Although small, this dog is not timid and is very brave, with the hunting and prevention instincts of a larger dog. Chihuahuas are strong-willed, graceful, alert and fast-moving. They are well-liked for their shapely build and petite size, and they are extremely well-liked by their keepers.
Chihuahuas are very cold, so they should not be kept in outdoor kennels. Chihuahuas are small in size and do not have high requirements for living space. Basically, the space of an ordinary house is enough for them to play.
They don't exercise much every day and don't spend much time going out. Chihuahuas can stay at home every day and are perfect for those who now live in apartments.
The character is more sensitive, suspicious, loyal to the breeder, highly dependent, brave, intelligent, and curious. The breeder must understand the Chihuahua's personality in order to live in harmony with it. When with a breeder, it will bite if someone touches it. After getting to know the breeder, Chihuahua hopes to stick to the breeder all the time. Therefore, whether you are watching TV or exercising, there must be four-legged shadows following you. At the same time, Chihuahuas are curious about new things and love adventure.
Because Chihuahuas are clingy and can be frustrating to be ignored, they are not suitable for independence. It is said that the dog does not like to be around children.
Chihuahua raising knowledge
1. According to the original feeding method, gradually change the feeding method: suddenly change the food, the dog cannot adapt, and often causes digestive tract diseases.
2. Feeding should be done regularly and quantitatively: I am afraid that the dog will not eat well and will not be full. Feed whatever eggs, milk and sausages you want; the breeder will feed it, and relatives and friends will feed it; it will be strange if you don’t get sick within three days if you don’t regularly or quantitatively.
3. Excessive play: Adults tease, children play, you hold, I tease, dogs can’t rest, fatigue, decreased resistance, easy to get sick, especially puppies, at least 10 hours of sleep every day.
4. Not adapting to the new environment: The dog will leave the original living environment and come to a strange place. It will feel lonely and helpless and will miss its original breeder. Dogs can get sick if not cared for. Especially puppies that have just been weaned away from siblings are not used to it. They are more likely to get sick if the food and room temperature are not up to the requirements
5. Improper bathing: Some breeders think that the dog is dirty, and they bathe the dog as soon as they come home. Without drying it, the dog is prone to sickness. The newly bought dog is best not to bathe, observe for two days, if there is no cold, diarrhea and other symptoms, then get the vaccine (vaccine is actually a small amount of virus, weak or already sick can only make things worse).
6. No contact with other dogs, infection with diseases: The protection rate is not 100% even for vaccinated dogs, let alone unimmunized dogs. For newly purchased dogs, during the quarantine observation period, do not take them out to play, do not come into contact with other dogs, and do not touch other dog owners’ dogs to prevent cross infection;
7. If there are existing dogs in the house, the new ones must be quarantined and observed for a few days to prevent the risk of infection of the original healthy dogs.
8. Standing medicines and items: thermometer, eye drops, cold medicine, antidiarrheal medicine, ear mite drops, lactic acid bacteria tablets (can cure diarrhea and aid digestion), medicines must be used for children or pets, and some popsicles should be prepared (in case of accidental fractures) used as a temporary dressing to prevent secondary fractures).
9. Do not exceed two pairs of chicken livers a week, otherwise it will affect bone development, and the fasting things must be controlled.
10. If it is a puppy, be sure to keep warm and cover the nest with clothes. It's best to change the sleeves of old clothes into small ones, or buy Chihuahua-friendly clothes at a pet store.

Chihuahua feeding points
Don't rush to play with the newly bought Chihuahua, give him snacks. To avoid a dog's stress response, familiarize the dog with the environment after returning to the new home before considering playing with it. Don't feed too much when you eat, familiar Chihuahuas can also be considered.
Food served should be clean, hygienic and fresh. Rice bowls and other utensils should be cleaned regularly, and a certain amount of clean drinking water should be provided after meals.
Chihuahuas are born with a small appetite, but have a very fast metabolism and are very hungry. It is best to feed them several times a day. The feed is preferably mainly dry feed, and some wet feed can also be used in moderation. Chihuahuas are gluttonous, but be careful not to let your dog eat too much to avoid gaining weight.
Giving it 60-90 grams of meat per day is enough. Larger Chihuahuas only need to provide about 150 grams of meat per day, plus an equal amount of vegetables and crackers.
Since this dog is not cold hardy, the food should also be warm. Meat should be cooked, chopped and mixed with dry feed and warm water before feeding.
